Hi, I'm Emily. I've been on both sides of this table.

For ten years, I helped write the same IEPs parents were trying to understand. Now I help parents make sense of them.

"The Classroom Years"

For a decade, I was the one writing the IEPs.

I spent ten years as an Intervention Specialist in PreK–8 classrooms, working with kids who needed extra support — academically, behaviorally, developmentally. I sat in the meetings, helped draft the goals, ran the interventions, and watched students grow.

Along the way I earned my Master's in Reading Science, deepening my understanding of how kids actually learn to read and process information. I hold teaching licenses in both Early Childhood (PreK–3) and K–12 Intervention.

I loved the work. The classroom side, the data side, all of it. But the part that stuck with me most wasn't the paperwork.

It was watching the parents.

"What I Noticed"

Even the strongest school teams couldn't change what I kept seeing.

Parents would walk into meetings ready to listen. They'd take a deep breath and try to follow along.

By the end, they'd be nodding through language nobody had ever explained to them.

They'd sign documents that affected their child's entire school experience — without fully understanding what they'd just agreed to. It wasn't because they didn't care. They cared more than anyone else in the room. They just didn't have a translator.

And nobody on the team had time to be one.

"The Shift"

Then I had my kids.

My daughter came first. Then her twin brothers.

I stepped out of the classroom to be home with them. Hard decision. Clear decision.

What I didn't expect was how much I'd keep thinking about the parents I'd left behind.

Not vaguely — specifically. The mom who asked me three different ways what "least restrictive environment" meant because she didn't want to admit she didn't know. The dad who emailed me a week after a meeting just to ask what he'd actually agreed to. The parent who told me she'd cried in her car after every IEP meeting since kindergarten because she felt so behind.

I couldn't stop thinking: these parents shouldn't have needed a teaching degree to understand their own child's education plan.

"Why This Exists"

So I built this.

Bridge to Confidence is the answer to a problem I watched up close for a decade — and felt powerless to fix from inside the school system.

When you're the teacher, you can only help so much. You've got a roster of students, a curriculum to deliver, a team to coordinate with. You can't sit with one family at their kitchen table for an hour and walk them through every word of their child's document.

But I can do that now. That's the whole business.

I take what schools say and translate it into what parents need to understand. No jargon. No acronyms. No overwhelming you with more information. Just a real conversation with someone who's been in those meetings — on the other side — for ten years.

"The Personal Stuff"

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

When I'm not doing this, I'm doing the rest of my life.

I'm raising three kids — my daughter came first, then her twin brothers. They keep me on my toes in the best way. My husband and I also run a business together, so work and home blur for me more often than not. I get it.

I live right here in Stark County, Ohio. I'm not a faceless online service. I'm not a national brand running a call center. When you book a session with me, you're talking to a real person who lives 20 minutes from your school district — or if we're meeting virtually, a real person who's one Zoom screen away.

That's exactly why I do this work.

Every parent deserves to understand what's happening with their child's education.

"What I Believe"

You shouldn't have to fake it through meetings. You shouldn't have to nod along to acronyms. You shouldn't have to leave appointments more confused than when you walked in. And you shouldn't have to do any of this alone.

That's what Bridge to Confidence is. A bridge — from where you are right now (confused, overwhelmed, or just tired) to where you want to be: clear, prepared, and ready to advocate for your child like nobody else can.

You're already the expert on your kid. I'm just here to help you understand the system.

Let's start with a conversation.

The first 30 minutes are free. No pressure, no paperwork. Just a chance to talk about where you are and what you're up against.

Looking forward to meeting you. — Emily
